What a day! First off, I'm sad for all of you that are sad about the game 7 disaster that was our night. There are so many gloomy people out here in BC and I imagine I might feel some of the wrath tomorrow as I'm out grocery shopping (you'd never believe the rudeness that I experienced on Tuesday after the big devastation in game 6!) So, my perfect little impression of all "BCites" is squished as reality hits- people are not always nice. Regardless, I still say people here are very friendly and we are blessed to be a part of this little community of Chilliwack. Let me tell you about it....
Today my landlords dropped by to give us yet another key for this lovely home God's blessed us with and to invite us to a birthday party! Yay, I love parties! I just hope we get some warmer than +15 and overcast weather, otherwise swimming will be a little less exciting. Secondly, one of our neighbors that I met at the park the other day came by to invite us to watch the Stanley Cup Finals with a bunch of the neighbors. They had set up a couple big screens in their garage and had lawn chairs and food out for everyone to enjoy as we watched that miserable game. I can't say I care two hoots about the hockey game (I'm sorry Dad and anyone else who this is horrifying news for) but the Party was great! It was truly a unique experience for me and Dave to be a part of a neighborhood get together that was so.... neighborly. :) Kara and Emily were in their glory as there was a million kids running around, lots of chips and little boys giving out chips (an even better combo for my little flirts). To top it all off one of my neighbors, who is in some way frighteningly similar to me, runs a "Boot Camp" every Monday, Wednesday and Friday night. So, off I went to have my Butt whipped with her tonight because there wasn't another soul there because of the big game (except we recruited a 15 year old superstar cheerleader who was stretching in the park :0). Oh and one last thing, praise God our Far Away Farrs are not so far away anymore, they live just up the mountain from us now. Dave helped them move in today so we look forward to game nights and babysitting trade offs as well as dinner dates and playmates! For those of you who don't know who the Farr's are, they are a blessing and an answer to our prayers but also the sister of my sister-in-law, Annette. We've been connected to them for years but only really by acquaintance through our studies at Brock and some camp work Dave did. Now they are living just 5 minutes away! It's amazing how God provides. Off to bed now!
Thanks so much for keeping us updated. We love reading these. They bring us right back. It's fun to re-live our Chilliwack days through you guys. What was your negative post-game experience?
ReplyDeleteImmediately post game wasn't too crazy. Chilliwack seemed quiet. No horns honking or crazies in the street like after the games that were won. There was one very sad looking guy, all decked out in Canucks gear walking home from a party or something, he was just scuffing along with his head hung low. Then we got home to read about all the insanity in Vancouver! It's so sad what poor sports some people can be... I'm so glad there is some discipline been doled out for all the cops cars that were lit on fire.
