Day 6-Settling In....

So I haven't written nearly as much or as often as I had hoped, but as my dear mother reminded me.... it's a busy time and I shouldn't stress myself out with my silly self-imposed expectations. Anyway, I have a hard time remembering what I ate for dinner let alone the last few days but I will try and summarize the highlights.

Firstly, I still can't believe I live here. Not only is it surreal that we are now BC residents, but this home is unreal too. It really is way too big for us so I hope and pray (and expect some of you) to come visit us. Please please don't hesitate to take a trip out west and stay with us free of charge if you've never done the BC tour before. It really is incredibly beautiful and we have a whole apartment that you can stay in as well as a guest room with a queen bed!

Speaking of bed... that's the big news for today, we got our bed! Yesterday we received our bedroom set and today we got a new mattress. I expect to have the best sleep of my life tonight- that is, when I eventually get to bed. We've been burning the midnight oil here pretty long because during the day we try and get out exploring with the girls a bit.

Tonight we tried out our new stroller again and met more of our neighbors. I've started a book of names and tid bits of information that people give me when we're chatting because we are meeting so many people that I know I'll never keep them straight next time I run into them. I know, it might be a little creepy to carry a little booklet of information about people you meet but it's been so helpful already, especially when trying to put together all the kids that belong with the parents. Every house in our neighborhood seems to have kids and so far 85% of them attend a church somewhere... bible belt for sure! We are hoping to check out a different church this Sunday that apparently some people on our street attend. It would be such a God thing if we were able to develop strong christian community all around us. I can only imagine the things we could do together for God in our neighborhood!

Some of you encouraged me to write my prayer requests and I hope you'll share what's you'd like me to pray for as well. I love that there are so many sisters of mine that are eager to support me from a distance in prayer and accountability.  I pray this blog is a way for us to carry out Hebrews 10:25 "But let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. " (in spirit anyways) and 1 Thessalonians 5:11. "Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing".
So my prayer requests.... simple really, that God would help me to divide my time according to his priorities and not my own and that I would follow his promptings to dig deeper into some of the relationships that I have made so far.

And a praise note.... that my husband is amazing and has officially passed his exam! Plus, I'm so thankful for Dave as he has been madly researching to get the best bang for our buck on the many items that we needed for our house and for our stay in BC. He's already purchased 2 hiking backpacks, a double running stroller, 2 bed sets, coffee table and end tables, and is now hunting for desk for our office and a bike for Kara. Plus he's set up our phones and helped me unpack, put together furniture and tidy up around here. Hopefully he'll help me jazz up this blog and post pictures in the near future too! Stay tuned.

Another highlight for me this past week was walking through the beautiful Minter Gardens www.mintergardens.com with my two little ladies and a 3 other young mom's and their kids. It was such a peaceful and gorgeous place, apart from the random spattering of modern art, it was like walking through the garden of Eden at times (or at least how I imagine it to be). I got a seasons pass and fully intend on taking some of our guests there or perhaps even having a family date day exploring the many other garden trails that we didn't get to.

Anyway, I should probably head to bed (can't wait to try out the new pillow top).
Signing off from the little city of round about road ways, astronomically priced cheese and very friendly people!
