Our happy little family is all packed and ready to fly west! |
A soon to be very missed brother drove us to the airport |
Uncle "Bamie" and the girls have one last hug good bye |
Kara was very pleased to pull her suitcase of "new toys and treats" for the plane. |
Watching for the big plane that would take us "Up UP and AWAY!" |
Wide awake even though it was nap time.... so gravol was added to the treat bag! |
So here I am starting my first blog in an attempt to share our adventure with all of you that care to tune in to where God has taken us. I hope that this blog will keep you updated so that when we chat on the phone we can hear all about you and not just answer questions about how life is here in the west, although we are happy to do that we thought this might be a neat way of sharing what God’s been teaching us and also get you excited about coming west to visit us! It’s been evident from the day we learned Dave got into BC Residency program that God’s hand was all over this life change since we really didn’t think that the chance of us getting in were very likely. Well here we are. Almost exactly 3 months after finding out where we would be going we sit in our new home in Chilliwack- stunned with God’s goodness and blessings.
So first things first. Thank you for the many prayers that went up for us about our travels. Everything went very smoothly and the girls were quite manageable in the plane. Air Canada was great in that they had movies that we could watch while the girls slept (ya that’s right- THEY SLEPT!) So the plane ride went by pretty quickly and uneventfully. As we flew over the mountains on a pristine clear blue sky day I was awestruck with God’s creation. My sister, Melodie wrote this song when we were in high school which had a line that said “The mountains display your majesty….” Wow. It is so true. When Kara woke up her excited comment was, “Mommy look the water has big waves!” Having never seen real mountains she thought that the snow peaked mountains that stretched as far a you could see, were crashing waves. In general, the plan ride was great. I praised God as I held Emily fast asleep in my arms with Kara curled up next to me. “Thank you Lord for gravol!”
When we go to Chilliwack we were met by Marcelle Farr who has lives in North Vancouver with her hubby Nate and their two girls, Charis and Sky. The drive through down town Vancouver was insane. We slowly crawled through town trying to avoid hitting the thousands of people that had gathered to watch the big game! They won right as we were coming into town so everyone just started running and screaming into the streeets!
We grabbed some dinner, discovering that $5 foot longs at Subway were $6.50 in BC, but were somewhat relieved to see that although the prices are generally inflated in BC, gas was cheaper!
Kara and Emily were pretty excited to meet Karis and Sky and I pray that this is the beginning of a neat “mentoring” relationship. Both with the girls who are a 6 and 3 but also with Marcelle and I. I’m sure I can learn lots about parenting two little ladies from her.
Anyway, signing off for today. God is good.
